Europe

TAI Europe is the regional platform of TAI seeking to ensure that people have a voice in the decisions that affect their environment and their communities. TAI Europe partners promote transparent, participatory, and accountable governance as an essential foundation for sustainable development.

TAI Europe includes non-governmental organizations from twelve European countries. These are Bulgaria, Estonia, Hungary, Ireland, Latvia, Lithuania, Macedonia, Poland, Portugal, Turkey, the UK, and Ukraine. TAI Europe is represented in TAI Global by the Core Team Member Environmental Management and Law Association (EMLA) (Hungary).

Full national TAI assessments using the Version 1.1 of the assessment methodology were completed in 8 countries (Bulgaria, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Portugal, Ukraine), and in 2 countries (Estonia, Ireland) the new assessment methodology Version 2.0 was pilot tested on the water management sector.

Full national TAI assessments using the Version 1.1 of the assessment methodology were completed in 8 countries (Bulgaria, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Portugal, and Ukraine). The new assessment methodology Version 2.0 was pilot tested on the water management sector in 2 countries (Estonia, Ireland). Later the Version 2.0 methodology was applied in a full-scale TAI assessment in 3 countries (Ireland, Macedonia and Turkey).

TAI Europe Countries

New Process: Regional Strategic Planning Process

European TAI partner organizations started the preparation of a regional strategic plan in 2010 and have drafted the first strategy at the 2010 October Global Gathering of TAI in Kampala, Uganda. The strategy was finalized in April 2011.
