Improving the Institutional Framework for Sustainable Development - “A deep dive into governance issues and the Rio+20 Zero Draft” will convene together government, civil society participants and international organisations who are concerned about ensuring the success of Rio+20 and meeting our sustainable development challenges.
The meeting will seek to define ambitious and visionary outcomes on the second theme of the conference, strengthening the institutional framework for sustainable development and improving good governance.
Rio+20 Three Demands Campaign
The TAI Secretariat has completed a draft response to the Secretary General’s Questionnaire B to submit as part of the RIO 2012 process. We are seeking to open up space on the RIO 2012 Agenda to discuss progress to date on access rights. In addition we are compiling case studies from partners as an appendix to this questionnaire. Please see attached the DRAFT response to the Questionniare. We ask for comments to this Questionnaire by TAI partners by end of work day on October 29th.Comments can also be provided after the Rio 2012 session at the Global Gathering.

Carlos Ponce’s Memo discusses the right to association and the crucial role this right plays in bringing awareness to human rights violations, advancing democratic ideologies, and educating the public.
Ponce provides an outline of the different barriers that are placed upon NGOs (CSOs) and a useful toolkit for NGOs to survive under opressive governments. The memo also contains some of the international organizations that have issued statements on protecting civil society, the freedom of association, and the right for NGOs to freely exist and operate.
