Indonesia carried out its first assessment in 2003 and the second assessment in 2008. Based on the first assessment, it identified the need for a nationwide Freedom of Information Act. Working from this recommendation, TAI partner organizations working with the Indonesian government drafted an act that was adopted earlier in 2008. The secfond assessment documents access improvements and weaknesses in Indonesia since 2003. Additionally, TAI partners have been working with the Ministry of Environment to develop an access road map and guidelines to implement the new freedom of information law.
