Estonian Environmental Law Center
Estonian Environmental Law Center (EELC) was founded in 2007 by an environmental NGO Estonian Fund for Nature (ELF) and 3 public interest environmental lawyers – Kärt Vaarmari, Liis Keerberg and Silver Nittim.
The aim of the organization is to create, collect, disseminate and use expert knowledge on environmental law in order to enhance development of environmental law and quality of environmental decisions of different levels as well as environmental legislation. EELC is a non-governmental non-profit organization, acting in public interest.
In order to achieve this aim, EELC uses various methods and activities. Our main activities include:
legal analysis in the field of environmental law
- collection and dissemination of information on environmental law (including webpage on environmental law and a monthly newsletter on the actual news in the field)
training in environmental law
participation in environmental legislative processes and other environmental decision-making processes and
The competence of our staff is complimented by that of our national and international partners. Since 2008, EELC is member of network of European environmental law organizations – Justice & Environment (http://www.justiceandenvironment.org).
