Zimbabwe Environmental Law Association (ZELA)
ZELA is a public interest environmental law organization established in 2000 and registered as a trust in November 2001 under deed of trust Number MA 1669/2001. The organization was formed after the realization that although there are many environmental organizations in Zimbabwe, none of them focused on environmental law as a tool and means to achieve environmental justice and sustainable development. The organization runs 4 main programmes namely Lands and Communities, Urban Environments, Trans-boundary Natural Resources Management and the Environmental Law Reform and Education Programme. The work of the organization is premised on research and publications, advocacy and lobbying, litigation, education and awareness raising.
